Why I wrote this app?
I have worked at lot of companies, and have managed a lot of people. I also have had a lot of managers. As a manager, your day can easily get fragmented and you may feel the instinctual need to sacrifice or cancel your one on one meetings. Honestly, I have been in that situation too. Its too easy to let the one on one's slide.
At some level, I always felt this neglect was not right. Studies have shown that spending one on one time with your team member directly leads to higher engagement and more committed employees. We all want that right?
How often should you meet? Some managers meet with each person once a month, others meet every two weeks. The app puts the benchmark at "once a week". This schedule has two benefits. First, you don't let too much time pass by without appreciation or adjusting feedback. Second, if you are having a hard time meeting with everyone once a week, you may have too many direct reports to meaningfully do one on ones. It may be time to delegate this face to face time to others in the organization.
One on one meetings are THE most important meetings that you as a manager need to attend. As a manager, your first job and duty is towards your team.
While this app won't solve all your problems, it will be your steady friend and guide. You will take notes as thoughts occur to you. It will help the communication flow.
Are you recognizing individual team member's strengths, and triggers that maximize those strengths? If you would like to, this app is for you.
Download it, add your team and get started on this journey and share with me your experiences.
